Do you want to get well?

Have you ever received a very important invitation or life-changing offer? One of such great significance that you could not refuse?  In John chapter 5, we see such an offer. God’s Word tells us about a man who had a significant infirmity. He was an invalid for 38 years and was lying on his mat begging and waiting for a miracle.  Jesus saw this man and asked him, “Do you want to get well?” There it is, don’t miss it!  Jesus, the Son of God, asks him if he wants to get well. Now, I am thinking duh, of course he wants to get well! However, look at the man’s response in v.5. “Sir”, he replied, “I have no one to help me into the pool when the water is stirred and while I am trying to get in, someone else goes down ahead of me”. There it is. Jesus is offering this man an invitation, a life-changing offer, to get well and his response is that of an excuse! He says he has no one to help him.  Jesus then said, “Get up! Pick up your mat and walk.” Verse 9, says, “At once the man was cured; he picked up his mat and walked”. May I encourage you with scripture? Jesus gives you the same invitation today. It is sad to see how many times our response to this offer can be an excuse as to why we cannot be healed. Sometimes, it is even possible for us to enjoy the comfort of our mats! Jesus cares and wants to heal you in the places where your heart is damaged and you are locked up or pulled away in relationships. Jesus not only heals our spiritual sin issues, he wants to heal our emotional heart issues as well. Jesus can speak to depression, anxiety, bitterness, brokenness, helplessness, hopelessness and so much more.  Maybe it is time to realize that Jesus is inviting you to accept a life-changing offer. “Do you want to get well?”  If you, or a loved one, are struggling, we want to care about your story and pain with the love of Christ. John chapter 5, is not just a Bible story, it is a Bible truth! Jesus loves you and He is asking you if you want to get well.

Who will you encounter today, that you can be like a honeycomb, giving them some sweet words of encouragement? Seeing – beyond my own reflection

It’s awesome to hear the sounds of the birds in the morning as they usher in the new day!  The smell of the morning air, the amazing taste of a cup of brew during devotions and prayer, ahh what a joy!  As I placed my morning coffee on the glass table, I made a conscious decision, to look at my reflection in the dark colored stain glass. I expected to see my face, however, I saw something much greater! Instead of seeing my own reflection, I saw God’s!  I observed His creation in the beautiful blue sky with glorious white clouds suspended in the air.  I was mesmerized by God’s creation in this mural and I just sat, observing and taking in all He had made for me.  It wasn’t just what He had made in creation, it was what He had made in me, and that fact that He wanted to share all this with me because He loved me.  I felt blessed, full of joy and eager with expectation for the day and the future. Sometimes people are only able to see their own refection.  It can look like pain, fear, frustration, and helplessness when they focus on their situation or the broken parts in themselves and in others.  God loves you and He wants you to be able see and enjoy ALL that He has created IN you and FOR you! Jesus said in Matthew 19:26 that “with God all things are possible”.  We want you to be encouraged today with hope that God can change a person’s situation and their circumstances to bring healing to their life? You were made in God’s image and He wants you to experience love, joy, peace, and hope.  Jesus, God’s Son, came to this earth to redeem, reconcile, and heal.  Jesus said in John 10:10, “A thief comes only to steal, and kill, and destroy. I have come so that they may have life and have it in abundance”.  Did you catch that word? Abundance! Jesus wants you to experience His healing and provides hope to those who have been emotionally or spiritually damaged.  Can you imagine, a depressed person changed and no longer depressed?  An angry person no longer angry?  A critical person no longer negative or critical?  An addicted person no longer a slave to their addiction? An emotionally hurt person who no longer has to shut down, pull away and wall off their heart in self-preservation?  Jesus wants to heal you so you can come alive, feel again, love again, and live in abundance.  Then, you will be able to give love the way He always intended.  Jesus cares about your pain, your situation, and your future.  Because of God, “the boundary lines have fallen for you in pleasant places, indeed you have a beautiful inheritance” Psalms 16:6. It was in this reflection of God’s creation on the glass table where I realized the lesson of the day.  God wants us to look into the mirror as we reflect upon …
