More than a Feeling.

You do not have to look long or far to see the harmful effects of people struggling with heart issues.  These painful issues manifest themselves in relational dynamics in our world within our families, church, and work.  Many do their best to cope; however, the root cause of these problems can often lead a person to a host of other issues such as depression, anger, critical spirit, unhealthy coping mechanisms, excessiveness, control issues, shutting down, pulling away, health issues and more. We all know people who when triggered by pain have changed jobs, churches, and marriages in pursuit of connection.

A path to healing begins with an understanding of the root causes of one’s heart issues, which most people do not fully understand.  Sometimes people are “turned off” at the mention of words like heart or issues, especially when used together.  They perceive these words to be emotional and feeling oriented, often concluding that they do not want to deal with feelings.

Let me give you a good Biblical reason to care about heart issues and behaviors associated with these.  Proverbs 4:23 says, Above all else, guard your heart, for everything you do flows from it.’  Scripture, “above all else,” this is a priority.  It then says to “guard your heart”.  This does not mean that you do not trust anyone; and it does not mean you deny your feelings or ignore issues. It means we deal with them.

Do you know someone who needs a Caring for the Heart counselor to care about their heart? The burdens people carry may feel heavy and affect their ability to connect or be connected with.  It may be a good time to deal with those heart issues.  It is tragic that some in need of surgery will never get help because they do not want to die on the table, when in reality they are emotionally dying or dead already.

Jesus is our great physician and He is good at heart surgery! Philippians 4:7 says, And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus”. Jesus is ready to meet you in the counseling room at the place of your greatest need to help you live abundantly. Be encouraged with Psalms 34:18 The LORD is close to the brokenhearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit”.

God Bless you,
